OLIVER CHARLES

The firm is led by Oliver Charles. Oliver was admitted as a Solicitor in England & Wales in 1992. Prior to setting up his practice, Oliver worked within prestigious firms within the East Midlands across the major components of law.

Oliver founded the firm in 1997 and since that time has earned an enviable reputation and list of Clients both nationally and internationally.

Alongside his legal qualifications, Oliver Charles has an MA in art history and is currently undertaking a PhD concerning the issues of the use of art within money laundering. He has lectured for over 27 years at a number of universities both in the UK and the EU at both undergraduate and postgraduate in the areas of accounting and finance, forensic accounting, most fields of civil and commercial law, the ethics and conduct of the legal profession, together with art history and art fraud.

Oliver has also contributed to international publications regarding corporate financial crime.

LUCY CHARLES

Lucy Charles is an experienced Independent Curator, Art Dealer and Art Market Professional working in London & Central Europe. Lucy gained her Masters in Modern & Contemporary Art with Christie’s and the University of Glasgow, She then went onto gain her second Masters in Professional Art Market Practice including Economics & Law.  She is currently researching her interest in lost Art Collections which ultimately will lead to her PhD.

As an accomplished and experienced Art Historian she has procured several different artworks for private collectors and institutions as an intermediary Art Advisor and broker for artwork sales and acquisitions covering works valued at £50,000 up to £10,000,000.

Lucy works within the art market as a professional Mediator to help solve complex disputes and advises as an Expert Witness.

Alternative dispute resolution is crucial in solving complex cases which should avoid the public gaze and adverse publicity which affect the value and tarnish the reputation of culturally important works of art.

Both Oliver and Lucy are committed Liverymen of the Worshipful Company of Art Scholars in the City of London. Together they are Patrons and Supporters of numerous Private & Public Art Foundations and Galleries across the globe.
